Introducing Wasilla Chiropractor Dr. Doug DeShazo

I was once a skeptic, too...

I wasn't really sure what a chiropractor was, but I knew it wasn't a "real doctor".  For some reason, however, chiropractic kept being brought to my attention.

First, a friend who was injured in a car accident told me about her great results with chiropractic care.  Another friend mentioned that chiropractic had helped to relieve her migraine headaches.  Then I met Bo Brantley, a fellow student at East Texas State University, and that meeting changed the course of my life.

Bo was taking prerequisite courses for chiropractic college.  I was taking many of the same classes, as I was planning to go to dental school after graduation.  We spent a lot of time discussing chiropractic, and his decision to pursue it as a career.  As I learned more about chiropractic, I became even more intrigued.

I decided to meet with a chiropractor in Greenville, Texas, near the town where I was attending college.  He explained chiropractic, telling me that the power and intelligence that made the body continues to reside within the body throughout life, and that chiropractic was simply a way to help that intelligence express itself completely.  This in turn allows normal healing and repair, and promotes optimum health, all without the use of drugs or surgery.  His explanation made perfect sense.

I knew then that I should become a chiropractor.  By the end of the school year I had applied to Parker College of Chiropractic in Dallas, Texas.

Choosing Parker College was a no-brainer.  I was born and raised in Dallas, and most of my family and friends still lived there.  I later discovered that not only is Parker College conveniently located, it is also one of the finest chiropractic colleges in the country.

The years I spent at Parker were some of the best years of my life.  The faculty was top-notch, and many of my fellow students became life-long friends.  The classes were challenging (I am especially happy that I'll never have to take another biochemistry exam), but I managed to graduate Cum Laude on August 11, 1995.

On August 12, 1995 I was on the road at 5 AM, with all of my worldly belongings loaded in the back of my truck, heading North to Alaska.

As a former skeptic, I understand the concerns and apprehension that some folks have when visiting a chiropractor for the first time.  So I make it a point to explain everything in advance, answer questions and perhaps even over-communicate.  I believe patients appreciate that effort.

If a health problem is robbing you of the life you deserve, I would love to have the opportunity to help.  Give our office a call, or e-mail me using the link below, so we can help you take your first step towards better health.
